2. Position Description: Secondary Principal

The Secondary Principal is the academic and administrative leader of the Secondary School (Grades 6-12), responsible for all aspects of its operation, including curriculum, instruction, assessment, student life, and faculty supervision. The successful candidate will champion the school's mission, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educational Leadership: Lead the continued development and implementation of the Secondary School's academic program (US Common Core-aligned, leading to AP).
  • Faculty Management: Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate all secondary school teachers. Lead professional development initiatives.
  • Student Life: Oversee student discipline, counseling, and co-curricular programs (athletics, clubs, service learning) to ensure a holistic and safe learning environment.
  • Operational Management: Manage the secondary school master schedule in collaboration with the School Director.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the secondary school, the School Director, and the parent community.

 

3. Required Qualifications and Experience

ISM is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and globally-minded educational leader with a proven track record of success in international education.

Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • Current Principal/Administrative Certification/Licensure.
  • A minimum of 5 years of successful administrative experience as a Secondary Principal or High School/Middle School Principal in an international or comparable setting.
  • Extensive experience with and strong philosophical alignment to Common Core, leading to the AP. IB experience would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a diverse, multicultural faculty and student body.

Preferred:

  • Experience working in a Southeast Asian context.
  • Knowledge of current trends in educational technology, social-emotional learning, and curriculum development.
